wNDIR is a directory scanning program with a difference. It is designed for a Netware environment, and works with all the Netware file attributes - owner, dates, flags, etc.
Any number of criteria can be specified and the results can be exported to a file for further processing in a database or spreadsheet.
wNDIR can also produce batch/command files to perform operations on the files matched.
For example, you could use wNDIR to list all files not accessed for a year and automatically produce a batch file which will archive them to a zip file and delete them from the server.
Network Administrators have always had the problem of trying to manage the files on their servers. One day you need to find out who ate all the disk space, and the next you need to archive files which have not been accessed for 12 months. The tools supplied by Novell to assist in this task have always been primitive - This is where wNDIR comes in.
As the name suggests, wNDIR supports most of the functions of the Novell utility NDIR, but does so in an easy to use manner. More importantly, the output produced by wNDIR can be saved in a number of ways for further processing. You can even make wNDIR produce a batch file which will automatically perform certain actions on the files found (once registered).
wNDIR runs co-operatively with the rest of Windows, even in a 16 bit environment. On a large server, it can take quite some time to scan all the files and you do not want your PC locked up during this time. wNDIR will let you switch tasks, or minimise it and it will keep running happily in the background.
