B&W Pro 2 (or Black and White Professional 2) is an advanced Adobe Photoshop compatible filter/plugin for converting colour images to monochrome, simple enough for amateurs to use but powerful enough for professionals producing fine art images.
B&W Pro 2 uses advanced image processing algorithms to produce far fewer unwanted image artifacts than other B&W conversion plug-ins. It works on both 24-bit (8 bits per channel) and 48-bit (16 bits per channel) RGB files. The filter gives full control over the conversion process, allowing adjustment of the following:
Lens filter colour and density
Simulates a colour filter placed over the lens at capture. For example, red filters are often used with B&W film in order to darken non-red areas, such as skies. The density of the simulated filter can be adjusted from 0 to 100%.
Film/sensor colour response
Six sliders give you fine control over the perceived sensitivity to individual colours of the film or sensor in the camera. Blues too dark? Simply lift up the "Blue" tones from the source image. Yellows too light? Just slide them down.
Gamma and contrast
Adjust the contrast and gamma compensation of the image for added impact.
Per-channel contrast adjustment
Unique to B&W Pro 2, you can fine-tune the contrast of you image in each colour channel individually.
Exposure compensation and black/white points
Increase exposure to lighten the image, decrease to darken. You can also set the blackpoint and whitepoints of your image individually.
Warnings to show blown highlights and lost shadow details can optionally be superimposed on the preview image.
Change photo tint
Add a colour tint after processing, such as sepia or a blue effect
