Ability Server is a HTTP, POP3, SMTP (incoming and outgoing) and FTP server all combined into one program interface. It is designed for people who want to host a personal website on their home computer.

It allows you to serve web pages and files over the internet or your LAN. In addition, the program can handle your emails by using its SMTP server to receive incoming emails from the internet and then allowing you to download them via POP3. Ability can also act as an outgoing email server by relaying emails to your ISP s SMTP server.

The FTP and SMTP servers support up to 2 user accounts and the HTTP server can handle up to 2 domain mappings. Both web and FTP server are very basic in functionality and SMTP server offers some enhanced functionality by allowing you to automatically reject certain file attachments.

Ability Server is easy to use and setup but requires you to have some experience in configuring servers, since it does not include any further documentation. Very small download and no installation required.

  • Anti-Hammering - Protect account passwords against brute force attacks
  • Remote File Execution - Allow users to run executables on the server
  • RFC 959 Compliant - Compatible with all standard FTP clients
