MTBF Timer is a free program that clocks the computer's up-time. You can use it to assess when it might be necessary to replace important components.
The only known limitations are that standby and hibernate mode do not constitute power off, therefore the program calculates these periods as up-time. I don't consider this a problem because this software is intended for use in mission-critical RAID servers.
