But the real novelty in iCPU Shutdown is the possibility to execute actions in function of 2 new parameters. For example, you can program a Hibernation of your PC according to the CPU Usage or to the Traffic on Internet. These parameters are specially useful when you don't know the time that will take a process to finish. For example, if your hard disk is defragmenting, or Cpu is processing long video edition sessions, or ripping, iCPU Shutdown will detect the moment in which the microprocessor (CPU) stops and then it will turn off the system.

The same criteria can be applied for transferring data among computers, via Internet or an internal net (LAN). iCPU Shutdown can monitor the incoming and outgoing traffic and carry out the selected action (Power Off, Hibernate etc. etc.) in the moment that traffic ceases. Imagine that you are sharing MP3 music files with some of the most popular exchange programs used in Internet, such as AudioGalaxy, WinMx, Napster, Kazaa or any other one. You may go to sleep peacefully leaving the computer on, sending and/or receiving files. When the exchange is over, iCPU Shutdown will turn off your computer completely if it was programmed this way.iCPU Shutdown is a tool that allows you to shutdown, reboot and hibernate your pc if traffic on Internet is low.

Of course, you can make a conventional action of the type: "Power off my computer in 2 hours and 15 minutes" or "Restart my computer every Wednesday at 22:00 o'clock". Scheduled tasks are allowed until 99 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds.

Other existing programs have this capability, although many of them don't really get their purpose. I have been able to prove some of that; instead of turning off my PC, they simply show a screen with a message: "It's now safe to turn off your computer". Or they stop the process because a certain program doesn't close, or some open document has not been saved. So my PC continued working, shortening the life of its components and consuming energy during hours!

iCPU Shutdown features
  • After: Introduce here the Days, Hours, Minutes and/or Seconds. Starting from the current time, the programmed action will be performed.
  • Starting from: The same as the previous one, but a date can be specified, either manually or by means of the popup calendar that appears after pressing the corresponding arrow.
  • If CPU(s) Usage is lower than: Determine the microprocessor (CPU) percentage in use value and time. Under this value, the countdown will start and once the programmed time has been reached the action will be executed. A momentary increase of CPU usage cancels the countdown and counters start from zero again. In other words, the action will be performed when CPU usage has been lower than the selected value for the specified interval of time
  • If Net Traffic lower or equal: Introduce the number of kB's and time. While there is traffic in the net, we will be able to see in every moment the speed average in seconds (transferred kB's) in both directions, receiving and sending data. When the traffic is lower than or equal to the specified minimum during the time interval, the action will be executed. Introduce the value "0.00" if you want to execute the action when there is no traffic in the Net. Also determine if you only want to perform the action depending on the traffic either Receiving or Sending Data exclusively, or Both.
  • See only graphics: Select this option if you only want to see the graphics of CPU(s) usage and Net. When this option is active no countdown is enabled and, therefore, no action may be performed.
  • Power off: If both motherboard and box are ATX, supporting ACPI, and the Bios is correctly configured, this option physically turns off the computer. It produces the same effect as the standard exit of Windows from the menu Start►Power Off. Almost all the current computers are equipped with ATX box and motherboard. In old computers, this option will close all the programs and it will show the screen of Windows: "It's now safe to turn off your computer".
  • Restart: iCPU Shutdown will close all the active programs and system will reset the computer in the same way as if it was just turned on. It can be useful for computers that are always working but they need periodically to be restarted or updated to release memory or to avoid possible blocades, etc.
  • Logoff: This disconnects the current user and the initial screen is shown so that a new user can be connected. Specially useful for network computers being used by many users and at different times.
  • Execute program: In the date and programmed hour, the specified application will be executed. For example, an Internet connection can be scheduled at a certain hour, or start executing the disk defragmenter... Optionally, parameters can be added to the program in order to run operative requests for an automatic start.
  • Hibernate: This option is identical to Power Off (the computer fades physically) but with the advantage that, when turning on the PC again, this will look exactly the same way as before the hibernation. Thus, if you had opened your Text Editor to write a letter and you had not kept it yet, this will appear exactly where you left it. PC´s outburst is quicker, since it is not necessary to load all the programs again. This option is not supported by Windows NT/9x/Millenium. Be secure of having activated this option in the Control Panel, Energy Options (Windows 2000 and XP). In another way, your system won't hibernate.
  • Standby: (or Suspend). The same as the previous one, but the computer doesn't fade completely. The programs in execution don't close and the computer enters in a saving energy status. Hard disks and other not necessary components to maintain the system active are disconnected, so that energy consumption is reduced to the minimum., including the microprocessor and its fan, if present. Usually, when pressing a key in the keyboard or moving the mouse, the PC leaves the Suspended way and goes back exactly again to the previous operative status. The process is very quick, hardly some seconds in being active again. Not all versions of Windows support this option.
  • Lock System: This option blocks the workstation and shows the connection screen with password request, if it was specified this way. The program doesn't close. Option only supported by Windows 2000 and XP or above.
  • Modem Hangup: (NEW in version 1.3). For users that use modem in their connection to Internet, this option will interrupt this connection with its ISP. To all the effects it is equal to the option "Disconnect" of the Dial-Up Networking. You can program, for example, a disconnection at 07.59 AM o'clock, but your PC will keep on carrying out the other tasks that were in progress. The PC won't fade, neither it will be restarted. The programs remain open... only the connection is interrupted. This option doesn't have any effect for users connected with DSL or Cable.
  • Force: If we activate this option, we make sure that the programmed action will be performed anyway. That is to say, iCPU Shutdown will close all the opened programs (make sure of saving changes in running applications, otherwise they would get lost) and will execute the programmed action. iCPU Shutdown won't close any active application if "Execute program" was chosen. If you didn´t activate this option and forgot closing, for instance, your Text Editor, Windows will ask you about saving changes and iCPU Shutdown won´t be able to execute the foreseen action until user´s response. And, logically, if the user is not present to answer, the computer will go on working indefinitely until obtaining response.

    Limitations
  • 30 days trial.
