GoldWave is a very good digital audio editor.

GoldWave is ideal for people who work with audio for CD editing, archive restoration, speech analysis, radio and TV, Java and Web pages, games, or just for fun.

GoldWave is the most advanced and complete audio editor available in its price range. It includes all of the common audio editing commands and effects, plus powerful built-in tools such as a batch processor/converter, a CD reader, and audio restoration filters that cost extra in other similar programs.

    Requirements
  • Windows ME, Windows 2, or Windows XP is required for version 5. Windows 98 works, but is not officially supported. Windows NT/95 are not supported and will not work (please download v4.26 instead).
  • Registered customers with old name/password based licenses must request an ID based license here.
  • Recommended system requirements:
  • 700MHz processor
  • 256MB RAM
  • 200MB hard drive space available
  • Accelerated video card running at 16-bit or true 32-bit colour
  • DirectX compatible sound card driver
  • DirectX 8 or later is required.

    Limitations
  • This evaluation version is limited to 150 commands each session and 2 commands total. When the session limit is reached, a reminder message will appear whenever you use a control in the Control window. Exiting and restarting GoldWave will let you use another 150 commands without interruption. The program will stop working when the total command count is reached.
