A MD5 checksum is a string of characters that represent each byte (or collection of bytes) in a file. SMD5 generates a checksum so you can provide it along with your download links.
Why provide a checksum? Checksums are very useful in checking the integrity of a file. A small change in the program can generate a whole new checksum. With SMD5, you can compare two checksums to see if the file has been changed.
SMD5 also uses a very simple windows interface (unlike most checksum generators that use a command line interface).
