Due Process is a useful tool that works as a Windows service, monitoring your processes and keeping them running at the priorities you specify.
A setup program is included, which allows you to manage the priorities your processes run at. Due Process is ideal for applications that need to run at a certain priority, such as games and background processes.
When you install Due Process, it installs in two portions. The first portion is the Due Process service. You can control how the Due Process service runs by opening Services, usually from the Administrative Tools control panel, and opening the properties for the Due Process service. Note that you may need to restart your computer in order for the service to be active.
The second portion is the Due Process setup application. When you run the setup application from the start menu, you will see two lists. The first list is the list of currently running processes on your computer. The second list is the list of processes that you have selected to be permanently set to a priority. This list is initially blank.
To change the priority of a currently running process, highlight a process by left clicking on it in the upper list, and then right clicking on the list. You can either change the process's priority for the current run of the application, or you can change the process's priority permanently. You are given six options ranging from Idle to Real Time.
You can manually add processes that aren't running from the File menu. Simply select File, Add Application..., and select the file you wish to change the permanent priority of.
If you select to permanently change the priority of a process, it will appear in the lower list. The service will automatically check to make sure that this process is running at the correct priority once every five seconds or so.
