Xassist - Alden believes that getting electronic publishing data correct at source is the best solution to quality control.
We have developed our own customisable quality control software application for checks and for checking correcting content errors within SGML and XML encoded texts.
Xassist comes equipped with six critical quality control routines in one package:
Xassist Parser
• Provides an interface for two SGML parsers and five XML parsers.
• Provides a simple method for parsing and correcting SGML and XML files either in batch or single file mode.
• Drag and Drop is enabled in both modes.
• Takes the user to the position of each error and allows the user to correct and re-parse the file or batch of files.
Xassist Builder
• Reads XML Schemas, SGML and XML DTDs and builds a list of elements, attributes and entities, particularly useful for modular DTDs and DTDs with many parameter entities.
• Allows the user to build a catalog file by interrogating the DTD.
• Allows the user to set rules for checking the content of the text as well as the structure of an SGML or XML file.
Xassistant
• Reads the customised configuration file produced by Xassist Builder and creates a report of instances which conflict with the rules set during configuration.
Xassist Report
• Is used to view the report created by Xassistant.
• Allows the user to find the position of the errors or conflicts, to correct the file and to re-check the file using Xassistant.
Xassist Batch Processor
• Is used to process any number of SGML or XML files through Xassist.
• Checks folders, and sub-folders.
• Run minimized, if required.
• Allows the use of watch folders.
Xassist DTD Viewer
• Reads Schemas, SGML and XML DTD's.
• Conveniently loads modules and entities associated to a DTD.
• Can be viewer in a single file or in multiple files.
• Option to prevent ISO entities from being used.
• Will warn if entity files within DTD cannot be found.
• Can view the tree structure of a Schema of DTD.
Xassist Editor
• Xassist comes with its own fully functional text editor.
• Reads Xassist script into an easy to use interface.
• Allows the use of fully customisable tag lists.
