MessageView is a Microsoft .NET Framework-based component library that enables developers to parse, analyze and display RFC 2822 messages in their applications.

MIME message information can be easily accessed through a strong object hierarchy. HTML and text content of such messages are displayed through the MessageView control itself which is highly customizable and features a set of security options, allowing even the display of unknown HTML content without security risks.

  • Display text and HTML content directly from the source:
  • In situations where MessageView has no access to any physical data store it can operate directly on the input stream. This makes MessageView superior to applications that operate mostly on temporary files.
  • No data caching required in most cases:
  • As long as the source is reliable and supports seeking, MessageView doesn't ever need to save message data to any location.
  • Flexible ways to cache data:
  • To gain the best performance, MessageView has an extensible mechanism to cache message data. Save data to memory, hard-disk or even a combination of both. By extending this mechanism, MessageView can directly operate on database records or any other form of data storage.
  • Strong security model:
  • You decide what kinds of content is shown in MessageView. Prevent MessageView from displaying any active content like ActiveX® or JavaScript, or disable HTML content completely. MessageView also provides a mechanism to add support for PGP signed and encrypted messages.
  • On-the-fly processing:
  • Messages are parsed and decoded during one pass. This makes MessageView the perfect choice when message data must be read from e.g. a network stream.
  • Support for base64, quoted-printable, UUEncode and XXEncode encodings:
  • The most common encodings are supported as well as the old-fashioned UU and XX encodings.
  • Messages are represented by a powerful document object model:
  • After parsing the message structure is represented in a object-oriented way that is consistent and easy to understand.
  • 100% MIME-conformant according to RFC 2049.
  • Conformant to the following RFCs: 822, 1847, 1864, 2045, 2046, 2047, 2049, 2183, 2231, 2387, 2822.
