It will assist in figuring the number of gallons your pool holds based on its dimensions and shape, which is useful in choosing the right equipment, and selecting and administering the right type and amount of chemicals. It will help determine how many gallons of resurfacing paint or material you will need to purchase in order to resurface your pool with two good coats, which is useful in preparing for a minor or major refinishing project on your pool. It will also help with calculating the Saturation Index.
The SI is a value typically calculated by pool technicians and Environmental Quality technicians, and helps determine if your water is corrosive, scale-forming or well balanced. By entering the pH value, total alkalinity and calcium hardness (from testing your pool), this will tell you what your Saturation Index is, and if outside the normal parameters how to correct it. It also contains normal ranges for pH, calcium hardness and total alkalinity as a reference.
